Portia Matthiesen Bismarck ND Death, Obituary- Highway 83 Head-On Crash
Portia Elbie Matthiesen, 21, of Mandan, passed away on February 8, 2026, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. The family has been heartened by the outpouring of love, particularly the flowers already sent. Those wishing to honor Portia are encouraged to donate to Furry Friends Rockin Rescue, in keeping with her love of animals.
Born September 4, 2004, to Troy Matthiesen and Jessica (Schlosser) Wright, Portia was a cherished daughter and sister to Brodey and Parker. She grew up in Mandan, attending local schools and graduating from Mandan High School in 2023. From a young age, Portia showed a love for soccer, excelling in the sport throughout her youth.
Portia met her fiancé, Seth Boyko, during high school, and the two shared a passion for adventure, nature, and building a life together on the farm. She earned a business degree from Bismarck State College and worked at Bed ’N’ Biscuit Ranch, where she trained and cared for dogs. Recently, she returned from Texas, certified in advanced cattle reproductive techniques, and was preparing to start a mobile veterinary service to pursue her lifelong dream of working with animals.
Portia’s infectious smile, humor, energy, and devotion to family made her a bright light in the lives of everyone who knew her. She will be remembered for her warmth, spontaneity, and zest for life.
Visitation will take place Friday, February 13, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Service, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services are set for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Evangel, Main Auditorium, 3225 N. 14th St., Bismarck, followed by burial at Fairview Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.
Portia is survived by her parents, siblings, fiancé, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family, and was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather Robert Matthiesen and her great-grandparents.
