The aviation community is mourning the loss of Ron and Barbara Timmermans, who died in a plane crash Wednesday evening near Murchison. The couple’s aircraft went down around 5:13 p.m., ending lives devoted to the skies.
Officials reported that the pair declared an emergency after oil obscured the windshield of their 1994 Beech A36. Attempting to divert, the aircraft struck power lines and crashed short of a runway near Brownsboro. The National Transportation Safety Board will lead the investigation into the cause of the accident.
As owners of AileRon T LLC in Orlando, Ron and Barbara were well-known and respected throughout aviation networks nationwide. Both were seasoned pilots whose expertise and commitment to safety earned admiration from peers.
Ron’s contributions extended beyond the cockpit. Through his volunteer work with the Florida Aviation Network, he interviewed industry leaders at major gatherings, including Sun ‘n Fun and EAA AirVenture. Recognized as National Certified Flight Instructor of the Year in 2021, he amassed over 4,000 instructional hours, shaping the next generation of aviators.
Barbara shared in that passion and support, playing a pivotal role in her husband’s instructional journey. Together, they built a life rooted in aviation, service, and shared ambition.
