Cory Bolles Death, Obituary: I-75 Manatee, Man Killed After Truck Makes Illegal Turn Into His Path

MANATEE COUNTY — A fatal interstate crash Monday afternoon has claimed the life of Cory Bolles, 28, after authorities say a tractor-trailer made a dangerous turn across traffic on I-75.

Investigators with the Florida Highway Patrol report that congestion from a vehicle fire near the Sun City Center exit had slowed vehicles when a big rig driven by Julio Dones Rosa allegedly attempted to reverse direction into the southbound lanes. The maneuver placed the truck directly in the path of Bolles’ northbound Toyota Corolla.

Bolles sustained traumatic injuries and was transported to a hospital, where he later died. Rosa was not hurt and was taken into custody. The investigation remains active as authorities determine whether charges will be upgraded.

Community members in Parrish have begun leaving flowers in remembrance. Funeral arrangements, memorial plans, and a full obituary will be announced shortly.
