Palmetto Elementary School Shooting, Lockdown Today: Active shooter reported in Georgia’s Fulton County, Bear Creek Middle School Safety Fairburn

Fulton County Schools reported that Palmetto Elementary School was placed under a hard lockdown Tuesday afternoon due to a criminal investigation being conducted by law enforcement near the campus. District officials confirmed that all students and staff were safe and that students were not involved.

According to spokesperson Brian Noyes, the investigation occurred on school property but outside the elementary school building. As a precaution, students were relocated to Bear Creek Middle School in Fairburn while authorities worked to secure the area.

Aerial footage from 11Alive showed police tape surrounding part of the front parking lot as officers remained on site. Law enforcement activity was limited to areas outside the school, and no injuries were reported.

The district stated the hard lockdown would remain in place until law enforcement determines there is no ongoing risk. Parents were instructed not to come to the school and to wait for further guidance, including information on student reunification. Officials said updates would be provided as the situation develops.
