Javan Myers Hammond Shooting Death, Obituary- Family Mourns Death

A disagreement that reportedly began over a ride request ended in fatal gunfire Thursday morning at the Willow Villa Apartments in Hammond, Louisiana. The confrontation claimed the life of 26-year-old Javan Myers and left several others injured.

Law enforcement officials state that 30-year-old Marquanvius Jones allegedly initiated the shooting, firing into a group gathered outside the apartment complex just before 11:30 a.m. Myers responded with gunfire amid the unfolding situation. The exchange wounded multiple people, including a 4-year-old child, two adults, and Jones himself.

Myers was transported for medical care but later died from his injuries. Jones survived and was taken into custody at the scene. He now faces serious felony charges, including second-degree murder and attempted murder with a deadly weapon. Authorities continue to investigate how the argument escalated so rapidly.
